So you can start directly at the heating the oil with whole spices step.

If you are using the dehydrated beans, then they need to be soaked at least for a couple of hours (minimum 4 hours and longer time in the pressure cooker). Black eyed peas can be cooked without soaking, but not these particular beans.Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14687803417221589161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24982757.post-16022320970707287342010-11-27T16:30:04.081+00:002010-11-27T16:30:04.081+00:00delicious aromatic biryanidelicious aromatic biryaniTorviewtorontohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00453013731812540021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24982757.post-91272116276111774582010-11-27T13:02:36.870+00:002010-11-27T13:02:36.870+00:00Okay one last question. They both have different cooking times, but whistles is an accurate measurement.

Since you are quite familiar around the kitchen. Maybe this explanation will help.

The first time You need to cook the chickpeas for a slightly less time than you normally would if you were only cooking chickpeas. The chickpeas continue to cook when you stir fry them and then when you pressure cook it with the rice, so if they are completely cooked right in the beginning, they will be overcooked by the end.

Does this help?Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14687803417221589161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24982757.post-32613634314386012692010-11-26T09:39:37.538+00:002010-11-26T09:39:37.538+00:00This sounds great! You said to add two cups of water and cook for "two whistles" -- what does that mean, time-wise? I have a new'ish pressure cooker so it doesn't actually have a whistle in the traditional pressure cooker sense. In other words, I don't have to pull the whistle up to release the pressure, all I do is put the switch on pressure release and voila.

Thanks, Kim!Azizahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15946108266557685299noreply@blogger.com
